WHO is Casey Clark

I've spent my whole life chasing the art of writing songs that remind folks to keep living.  When I first started writing I wasn't very effective.  20 years later; after living in Nashville with pro writers and playing hundreds of live shows, Ive got something to say. Come to a show and share your journey with me!  I bet we have some things in common!

DETAILS

I first fell in love with songwriting as a middle school kid, when music became more than something I listened to-it became something I needed. By high school, that pull was strong enough that I quit sports so I could rush home every day, guitar in hand, chasing the feeling of getting better and learning how to say something honest in a song. I cut my teeth in coffee shops and wine bars, figuring out how to hold a room, connect with listeners, and eventually make a living doing what I loved. As my confidence grew, I took a leap and approached a producer to record my songs, and that first record opened doors I never expected-enough to put me on the road traveling throughout the Southeast, sharing my music wherever I was welcomed.

After many visits spent observing and writing with some of the best songwriters in the world, I moved to Nashville, Tennessee.

I played music full time on Broadway, toured through booking agents across the Southeast and out West, and released another EP produced by Matt Ross-Spang (Jason Isbell, Drive-By Truckers, Margo Price), which went on to receive radio promotion. In between tours and late nights on stage, I worked by day as a handyman and assembling Wayfair furniture-doing whatever it took to keep moving forward. Eventually, though, I felt a growing distance from the place that raised me. Ilonged to return to Catawba, North Carolina-to a simpler, hardworking life, closer to God, and closer to the stories that shaped me. After moving back with my wife, I found myself writing the most honest songs of my life. I write now with no agenda, just the hope of sharing a moment in time-something real that someone else might recognize in themselves. Joy, sadness, grief, anger-if I can connect with another human being for three minutes at a time, then the song has done its job.
